A Great Loss for Port Credit and the City of Mississauga.

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our Ward One Councillor and BIA Board representative Jim Tovey.

Councillor Tovey has always been an advocate for the Port Credit BIA, a great community leader, mentor, and an inspiration.

“Jim was a loving husband to Lee, father to Daniel and a grandfather. He was a friend to all those who met him and the passionate leader of Ward “1-der-ful.” Jim was a community builder whose legacy will live on through the growth and redevelopment of the waterfront, in particular the revitalization of Port Credit and the development of the Lakeview Lands. A more ardent defender of the Great Lakes you will not find, Jim led the charge to protect our waterfront and our waterways for future generations. He was a committed member of the Mississauga community his entire life, being named the Mississauga Citizen of the Year in 2009. Elected to Council in 2010, Jim picked up where he left off as a citizen and began changing his ward and our City for the better.” Mayor Bonnie Crombie

Councillor Tovey will be deeply missed.
